An after school book club, just for the littles! Utilizing TumbleBooks, kids will read along to animated, award winning storybooks. Snacks and story circle will follow, with a wrap up Go Noodle activity. Elementary Book Club | 3rd - 5th Grade | 4:00-4:45 A reading session with snacks and one FREE BOOK! Titles we will read this year will include: The Fourteenth Goldfish, City of Ember, The Name of This Book Is Secret, and Jinx. Books are provided by the Hudson Public Library Foundation. Library Olympics Learn about the library, Mr. Lemoncello style! Each Tuesday in September will feature a different set of tasks that kids can team up to accomplish. Kids, be sure to take note! You will need all of the skills you learn for the big Escape Room Challenge on Tuesday, September 27th. October | 4:00 - 5:00 pm Mixtures, Potions and Explosions All things messy and gross- colored fizzy foam, slime, exploding soap and sidewalk chalk. What's not to love? November | 4:00 - 5:00 pm International Games Day Join us as we prepare for our second annual International Games Day at the Hudson Public Library! International Games Day is an initiative run by volunteers from around the world and supported by the American Library Association's Games and Gaming Round Table to reconnect communities through their libraries around the educational, recreational, and social value of all types of games. Each Tuesday in November we will hold Game Day Warm-ups: a chance to learn a different board game each week, in preparation for the big tournament on (early out) Wednesday, November 16th, 2016. We're flipping the traditional book club model and remixing it into Boys Book Club 2.0, featuring popular graphic novels that boys want to read! Read Scholastic's recommendation on using graphic novels to influence literacy efforts by clicking here. Boys who attend book club will be awarded with one FREE book, courtesy of the Hudson Public Library Foundation. Upcoming Book Selection: Ratchet and Clank Girls Blind Date Book Club | 6th Grade & up | 4:00-5:00 A white elephant style book club with a twist. Girls will choose from a selection of award winning books wrapped in craft paper to conceal their titles. Once opened, each person can choose to either keep the title or steal one from their neighbor. Participants will have four weeks to finish their books before turning them in for the next round. If the book is finished before the deadline, the reader may trade it in for another title which they can select for themselves. Each month we will start again with a new exchange, with plenty of snacks and conversation thrown in for good measure. Friday Free TimeThe Makerspace cart will be available as well as Legos, board games, computers and Wii on all Friday afternoons.
